Arius came to GSR from Chicago Animal Control after his owner passed away. Sadly Arius fell very ill with pneumonia which took 2 months for him to overcome. Now that he is feeling better, he's ready for his forever home! Arius is about 9 years old and weighs in at 102 pounds. He is half German Shepherd and half Alaskan Malamute. This big guy loves being petted and having his ears rubbed. He will sit for brushing and takes treats nicely. Arius likes to carry around his favorite toy to show you and will tug a little bit when feeling playful. Most of the time, he’s happy to nap around the house and just be with his people. Arius plays well with the more submissive younger male in his foster home. He is best suited in a home with more submissive dogs or as an only dog so he can be the king of his castle. He has previously lived with cats. Arius would prefer a home with a fenced backyard, because this big guy is not much for walks. He can go about a half mile before he gets tired but loves to sit out and soak up the sun in the yard on a nice day. Arius is crate trained, rides well in the car, and he’s a dream on leash. This big majestic boy deserves a special home during his golden years that will treat him like the king he is!
