Gia is just over a year old and was brought to the shelter as a stray. She waited 2 long months during the COVID lockdown to leave, and now she’s ready for her forever home! Gia is a little timid meeting new people, but once she trusts you she is very sweet. Gia is very smart, energetic, and playful. She is food motivated - Zuke’s are her favorite! She is a perfect traveler and lays down very quietly in the car. Gia has been exposed to pre-teen aged children and has done very well. She is very attentive and loved all the attention from the kids while playing. Gia will find her own thing to do if she gets bored like chewing a bone or an indestructible toy. When she came to rescue she didn’t know how to catch or what stairs were, but showed signs of having some type of training in her past. Gia has learned to tolerate getting baths, getting brushed and getting her nails clipped...of course treats make this much easier! Gia does not like to be kenneled but is not destructive when left alone. She was evaluated by Roc Solid Obedience and it seems that she lacks socialization with other dogs, but she is not dog aggressive. Gia is not good with cats. She is always motivated to bring the ball, bring her stick or her frisbee back to retrieve for hours! Gia cannot he trusted off leash and will require a secure fenced yard. Her foster mom has taught her several commands and hand gestures. This young, beautiful girl will flourish in a home willing to continue her training.
