Are you a German shepherd lover looking for your next companion? Tyger is a smart, athletic, and trusting two-year-old boy. The fact that he still has faith in humans after being beaten with a broom by his previous owner speaks to his resiliency. Luckily, Tyger was taken away from his owner and became a Safe Humane Chicago dog. He is currently being fostered and loves nothing more than to play fetch. He’ll chase any type of ball: big, small, soft, hard, football, soccer ball, tennis ball—you name it! He is crate trained, fully house trained, and he knows all his basic commands. His foster family has another male German shepherd who is not fond of Tyger. Although Tyger initially tested well with other dogs, because of this conflict with the other male in the home, he now seems to be showing some reactivity in the foster home. Any potential adopters with another dog would need to have their dog meet Tyger to make sure it was a good fit. He has not been tested with cats. Tyger would love a fenced yard where he can play fetch and would be a great prospect for nose work, agility, or a running partner. He will thrive in an active home where he can be stimulated mentally and physically.
